M Group Services Plant & Fleet Solutions helps create new adventure playground for local school 4th August 2023

Children at a Hertfordshire primary school are enjoying safe and fun playtimes thanks to the help of M Group Services Plant & Fleet Solutions (MGSPFS).

MGSPFS recently helped in the creation of a new adventure playground at Wymondley Junior Mixed and Infant (JMI) School, delivering a range of items to transform the outdoor area into an exciting space where the pupils can build and play.

After noticing that the local Puffins Reception Class were asking for donations of outdoor equipment, Jayne Broddle, Executive Assistant at M Group Services, reached out to Shaun Stephenson, Managing Director of MGSPFS to see if they could help. Shaun then contacted Simon Bulling, MGSPFS Depot Manager at Stevenage, to organise the items. The equipment, which included various cones, cable reels and pipes, were sourced by the MGSPFS team from across the business, giving the items an opportunity to be repurposed. They were then delivered by Simon Bulling to the primary school.

Speaking about the help given for the creation of the new adventure playground, Simon Bulling said:

“I was asked to gather some materials used by us and our contractors to supply to the school for their playground project. I worked with my team to liaise with some of the contractors to obtain the materials needed. We gained as much as we could and delivered to the school in time for them to complete their project for the end of term, before they broke for the summer.

“It is a great way for us to recycle items we’re no longer using and support the local community and young people to aid their understanding and development. We were greeted on delivery by the teacher and some of the excited Puffins.”

The 15 pupils of Puffins Reception Class were delighted to receive this equipment and instantly let their imaginations run wild in the upgraded playground. All equipment donated can be moved easily, giving the pupils the ability to build and play in a safe, collaborative way.

Ella Chegwyn, Puffins Reception Class Teacher, said “Our Reception children (age four and five) have been delighted to build obstacle courses and dens with the large equipment delivered. It's been great for their strength and gross motor development to have some larger items to move. Thank you to all involved!”

We hope the pupils of Wymondley JMI continue to enjoy many adventures in their new playground.
